In Chapter 14, Atago, alongside Shoukaku, Takao, Zuikaku, Fusou, Yamashiro, Yukikaze, Yuudachi and Shigure, are seen on a ship making their way towards a certain direction while having a conversation about the recent events with Zuikaku encouraging everyone to do the right thing by fighting the sirens and save Kaga. The next day, Atago is present when the entire Sakura Empire began to shake and later witnessed Kaga leaving the area with the Project Orochi.
